Analysis Of Three Music Magazine : X magazine

Language
The masthead is at the top of the magazine where it is traditionally placed. The masthead is colourful and stands out as the use of pink, black and white works well together as they contrast and make everything stand out. The Main coverline also uses pink and white so has continuity from the Masthead and also makes it stand out. The use of Lowercase letters Until the word 'Danni' shows excitement and importance. The main image takes up the majority of the front cover as it is to do with the main story however many other smaller images are used around the edge of the main image. This shows the other important and interesting stories featured in the magazine. The logo is placed nicely under the masthead in the top corner so is noticeable and even though it is overlapped it is still recognisable.

The contents page shows continuity from the front cover as it uses bright eye catching colours such as pink yellow and blue. it also shows continuity by featuring some of the people on the front cover on the contents page as well as having a main photo then placing other smaller photo's around the edge/bottom as shown on the front cover. Along the bottom of the page there are little photo's of the contestants in the competition and the ones who have been voted out have crossed through them so you know who is still in the competition. The page is set out nice and simply having the title of the article then underneath it a little bit about it and what page it is on so it is easy to read and very simple to use to find which article is on which page.

Ideology
This magazine conveys that pop magazines should be bright and colourful. It also conveys that pop singer should be traditionally attractive. It also proves that male pop artists are more likely to be boy bands then solo singers. the ideology of X magazine is to show the latest that is happening on the x factor and the latest pop realeses.

Institute
The X Factor is a registered trademark of FremantleMedia Ltd & Simco Ltd. Based on the television programme 'The X Factor' produced by talkbackTHAMES (part of the FremantleMedia Group) and SyCo Tv. Licensed by FremantleMedia Enterprises.

Audience
I feel the audience would be more female orientated and for young teenagers.

Representation
The front cover represents
The double page spread however does not show continuity from the front cover and the contents page as it does not use the colours. the only colours used are black and white, white for the background and black for the writing. its set out very plain and simply and is not as eye catching or interesting as the front cover and contents page. But the images have continuity. Both the front cover and contents page have have an equal amount of photo's to text. This is the same on the double page spread. Also an image which is used on the contents page is used again on this double page spread.
